Straight from Star Wars Celebration comes official word from Lucasfilm that the next Ahsoka The TV series for Disney+ will feature live-action characters from the star wars rebels TV series. A reel of sizzling footage was shown at the end, revealing that Hera, Ezra, and Sabine will all appear on the TV show. Casting has only been confirmed for one of the characters, with actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo set to play Sabine in live-action! Another surprise from the panel was the arrival of actress Rosario Dawson, who made her stage debut as none other than the rebel droid Chopper, confirming that he would also appear on the show.
“I feel like I’ve just been adopted into a new family,” Liu said during the panel. “I feel that for everyone I work with, but also for the fans. It’s just the most welcoming, the most creative… I’ve never experienced anything like it. Filming is going really well. I I can’t say anything. I know how much Sabine means to a lot of people in this room. Watching Rebels, she’s become very important to me and I know how much she means to Dave, so I think you’re going to be really excited about the trip she’s about to have.”
It’s unclear who will play the roles of Hera and Ezra in the series at the time of this writing, or how prominent they will be, but the sizzling footage reel showed their ship The Ghost and confirmed that they would be there. As fans may recall, Ahsoka’s TV series was set in The Mandalorian as she continues her pursuit of Grand Admiral Thrawn and seemingly responds to Ezra’s whereabouts.
The series panel confirmed that they had just completed their third week of production on the series, with Dawson adding, “It was amazing. I was so excited that Dave actually posted when we started, we started to filming on my birthday May 9. Last night was the end of our third week.
“Ashoka is an ongoing story,” Filoni recently said of the series. “It’s definitely about a goal, in my mind, rather than being singular little adventures. That’s what I want the character to do, and I think that’s what the fans want now. They have such a relationship with her. It was only recently that I began to understand that all those children watching clone wars are now much older – they are very excited about everything they grew up with, as they should be.”
