Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson says watching the first episode was a “religious experience” for Dave Filoni

Star Wars: Ahsoka is currently in production and according to star Rosario Dawson, there is at least one episode of the series that is fully cut and finished. And, according to Dawson, the showrunner’s first viewing of Dave Filoni Ahsoka episode was nothing less than a “religious experience”. While appearing on a panel for the C2E2 convention in Chicago, Dawson had the following to say about the current situation with Star Wars: Ahsoka:

“So I’ll say this. I’ll probably get in trouble for saying that. But Dave saw one of the episodes that were already edited together. And he came out – him and Carrie Beck – like the two of them like shining eyes. And he told me it was a “religious experience”.

The “Carrie Beck” Dawson refers to in the quote is, of course, the VP of Animation and Live Action Development at Lucasfilm and its story group. Beck and Filoni co-created and produced the star wars rebels animated series, which Ahsoka largely serves as a sequel. So for all the hardcore rebels fans out there, Dawson giving that kind of endorsement is paramount to getting a stamp of approval from the Star Wars Church storytelling and its popes.

As indicated, Star Wars: Ahsoka will pick up the key threads of the story that star wars rebels left hanging – and which have already been pushed forward by the events of The Mandalorian Season 2. Rebels ended with a cliffhanger mystery set in Imperial times: one of the last Jedi in training, Ezra Bridger, used his considerable power in the Force to knock out a major figure in the Empire: the brilliant and maniacal Grand Admiral. Thrown. Ezra bound Thrawn to the deck of his Star Destroyer, then fired the ship (with both aboard) into the depths of hyperspace.

Ezra Bridger and Thrawn were pivotal figures who were therefore absent from the actual era of the full Rebel Alliance’s struggle against the Empire (as far as we know) The Mandalorian Season 2, we find Ahsoka Tano (one of Ezra’s mentors and friend) still fighting to find Thrawn, who is apparently back and active at the time of The Mandalorian history (immediately after the fall of the Empire and the formation of the New Republic). The Ahsoka the cast revealed that rebels star Sabine Wren will come live (played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to help Ahsoka complete the mission to find Ezra, which they started in the final episode of rebels. Fans are now eager to see what happened to Thrawn and Ezra – and what it means for the future of the Star Wars franchise.

So… a “religious experience” is about the level of satisfaction that Star Wars fans are looking for, here.

Star Wars: Ahsoka is in production for Disney+.
