When you open books, a breath of fresh air blows through your hair. Ellie Peterson writes these kinds of children’s books. Peterson will visit the Orcas School District on Friday, October 7 all day. She is a picture book author, illustrator and former educator living in the Seattle area. Her work is inspired by countless interactions with children after 20 wonderful years as a teacher.

“My goal is to create books that amuse, intrigue and inspire children of all ages,” she says.

O’Keefe illustrated Bea’s Bees, written by Katherine Pryor. She wrote and illustrated It’s a Round, Round World! The reason for the seasons, how to kiss a puffer fish and school is wherever I am. She is currently working on a graphic novel Home is Calling (Summer 2023). In addition to her visit to the Orcas Island School District on Friday, she will be at the Orcas Library from 11:30 a.m. to noon to read, followed by the Darvill Bookstore on Saturday, October 8 from noon to 2 p.m. to sign copies. She will also visit Salmonberry School on Monday, October 10 in the morning.
