Written and illustrated by Robert vincent, “From the pocket of an overcoat” is based on the actual story of a cat named Max who was rescued by a homeless woman in Dallas and adopted by Vincent’s son, Matthew. The story is about an affable cat, Max Loops, and how he finds his way to a new home – moving from Sally’s cozy overcoat pocket in town, to the countryside with Farmer Buckles and his other animals, including her four dogs – Sam, Tots, Scotty and Junior Buckles. Along the way, he discovers a real sense of belonging within his new family and of being loved for who he is. As the journey of Max the Cat recounts, this is a story about self-identity, acceptance, rescue and adoption of animals.

Robert vincent is an author and illustrator of children’s books, as well as the author of a number of other literary works. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Kathy. Robert and Kathy’s son Matthew is a violinist with the Oakland Symphony and the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera. In december 2009, Matthew adopted an adorable black cat named Max.
