Borderlands PictureStart Producer Joins Scout’s Script2Comic Contest

PictureStart, the production company responsible for projects such as Pregnant and the next naruto and Borderlands movies, will play a key role in the final round of Scout Comics’ Script2Comic contest. The company is set to be the first sponsor of a special ‘Discovery of Voice’ prize for the final round of the competition, which offers creatives an outlet to bring their original story to life as a comic or novel. graphic, and also put into development as a movie or TV show. The competition will open on March 5 and close on June 5, with winners to be announced by December this year.

This year, PictureStart is looking for projects that clearly fit within its “Discovery of Voice” mandate, centering the characters on who they are, what their purpose is, and where they belong in the world. Royce Reeves-Darby, the company’s vice president of production, will oversee the contest, with co-founder and CEO Erik Feig serving as one of the contest judges.

“What’s most exciting about a partnership like this is that we get to take our goal of ‘voice discovery’ one step further, helping talented creatives create worlds populated by truly unforgettable characters discovering their place in these worlds,” Reeves-Darby said in a statement.

Other judges will include Jonathan Kadin, former executive vice president of production at Columbia Pictures, Jamie Iracleanos of Ghost House Pictures, Josh McLaughlin, former president of Focus Features; Chispa Comics’ David Bowles, longtime former CAA agent Jon Levin and horror franchise producer Lauren Vilchik cabin fever. More judges, sponsors and awards are expected to be announced in the coming months.

The winning comics will be printed by Comic Impressions and published by Scout Comics & Entertainments, with plans to put the titles in both comic shops and bookstores. Winners will also receive a special edition of their CGC comic.
