AWA Studios announces the publication of an adaptation of the great American novel Gatsby the magnificent this month of november called gatsby. The Reinvention of F. Scott Fitzgerald Gatsby the magnificent will take on an LGBTQIA and racially diverse lens from writer Jeremy Holt and artist Felipe Cunha with colors from Dearbhla Kelly. The original 8-issue series launches its first issue November 2 in comic book stores.

“Like many readers around the world, I fell in love with F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby as soon as I read it,” said series creator and screenwriter Jeremy Holt. “Fitzgerald’s writing inspired me to create my own version of this iconic story, but I wanted to make sure to include themes from my own life and experiences and make it accessible to a younger audience who doesn’t know this story. There aren’t enough queer and multicultural narratives being portrayed in entertainment, so I really focused on crafting a story centered around appropriate and authentic representation.

So what gatsby on?

Set in the present day, GATSBY is a completely redesigned version of The Great Gatsby. While the main characters and plot points are familiar from the original novel, Holt’s interpretation will be seen in a new light, recontextualized for the technology, societal norms and economic endeavors of the 2020s as opposed to the 1920s. through teenage characters. Though set nearly 100 years in the future, themes of betrayal, power, greed and the American Dream ring as true now in GATSBY as they did in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age tale.

GATSBY is a racially diverse LGBTQIA-led series that reimagines F. Scott Fitzgerald Gatsby the magnificent, located in present-day Long Island. This story moves the clock forward to feature teenage versions of all the key characters and sees the novel’s classic dichotomies through a distinctly 21st century lens that includes the internet, social media addiction, dark web smuggling and the proliferation of online identity creation. , deletion and theft.
