Author Jackie Bailey is on her way back to the town that was the setting for her first novel.

Ms. Bailey grew up in the town of Logan where she attended Kingston State School, Maryfields Catholic Primary School and Springwood State High School.

She will be on Thursday, August 4 to host an author conference at the Logan North Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The session will discuss the themes and people who inspired his first book The Praise.

The discussion will also be live at the same time via the Logan Libraries YouTube channel.

Ms Bailey, who now lives in the NSW region of Illawarra, is a finalist in the SBS Emerging Writers competition.

The eulogy is based on his family’s experience of the death of his sister Allison after living most of her life with various degenerative conditions as a result of brain cancer.

It’s a novel about family, death and bereavement that’s also full of love, humor and life.

Ms. Bailey, funeral director and interfaith minister, set The Praise in the town of Logan because she felt there were few books about growing up and living in the town.

She has fond memories of growing up in the city and remembers her regular visits to the Logan Central and Logan Hyperdome libraries.

The novel also includes mentions of Logan Hospital and the Logan Hyperdome shopping district as well as other well-known locations in the town of Logan.
