Introducing Stylist Short Stories: Here’s How to Submit

Entry requirements

To submit a short story to Stylist, you will need to write a short story no longer than 1,000 words and send it to [email protected] The story must be original, unpublished, and standalone (i.e. not a book chapter or work in progress). The story must be fiction and must be in English.

Submissions are welcome from people over the age of 18 who live in the UK or Ireland.

While Stylist keeps submissions open for all authors, Stylist Short Stories is designed to provide an opportunity for those who are particularly underrepresented in business publishing, such as female-identifying and non-binary writers

The judges

Submissions will be judged by Stylist editorial team, who will look for a story that excites, intrigues and surprises them. All genders will be considered.

The deadline

Applications should be submitted by email to [email protected] Entries should be in Word or PDF format and have the title and author clearly indicated on each page. The entries should also be spaced 1.5 apart.

This is an open portal for submissions, which means that applications can be accepted on a rolling basis. If the submission window is to close, 7 days notice will be given on this web page.


If your news is selected, Stylist will provide you with their standard terms and conditions for submissions. Once these are signed, the selected entry will have the option of being published on

The author of any published entry will receive a payment of £200 for their story, which will remain their intellectual property.

There is no limit to the number of entries that can be selected for publication, and authors may submit more than one entry per person, but please submit only one entry at a time.
