Local book drive aims to collect 1,000 children’s books | Libraries


CLEAR WATER (WQOW) — Few experiences are more rewarding than watching a child’s creativity and imagination soar. That’s why Friends of the Eau Claire Memorial Public Library has partnered with Rotary Matin Eau Claire to help give the gift of reading to children.

Their book drive runs from April 14 to May 15, with the goal of collecting 1,000 new or lightly used children’s books or picture books for children five and under.

“If you’ve ever been around children and books, it’s like when they get their [book], this is my book,” said Timothy Haukeness, treasurer of the Friends of the Public Library. “And that’s the part that really excites us. They can claim it and then they get excited to read, and that’s what the library is for, that’s what Friends [of the Library] is on point, and we are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity for the library and the children. »

All donated books will be given to children participating in the summer reading program they will belong to them.

Books can be dropped off at any of the seven collection box locations listed below:

  2. Clear Water Unit
  3. Brewing project
  4. LE Phillips Memorial Public Library
  5. Spirit Lutheran Church
  6. Menomony Market
  7. Chippewa Valley Museum
