Whether you’re all about revenge, truth and justice, or just a friendly neighborhood spider fan, there’s something for everyone at the upcoming Campbelltown Comic Book Day.
The fun event will take place at the HJ Daley Library on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Workshops, activities and competitions will be part of the event this year, with a medieval combat demonstration, an interactive children’s wrestling show, a playground and a mini artist’s alley for people of all ages.
For those interested in the quieter pages of comics, makeup, glitter tattoos, henna art, crafts and a photo booth will also be available.
Campbelltown Mayor George Greiss encouraged everyone to join in the fun.
“It’s a wonderful day for locals of all age groups to come together and celebrate comics, pop culture and cosplay,” he said.
“Comic Book Day is always hugely popular in the community and draws people with a wide variety of interests to join in the festivities.”
There will be free comics to be won as part of a giveaway, as well as a comic sale.
Anyone with a passion for cosplay can enter the cosplay contest in one of three age categories: 12 and under, 13 to 17, and 18 and over.
Registration will be open from 10 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. and the competition will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Entrants will be judged by professional cosplayers on originality, authenticity, and attention to detail, with one prize per category up for grabs.
A sausage sizzle and coffee van will be on site throughout the event.
