Marvel Superheroes Will Join The Ultraman Universe In The First-Ever Comic Book Crossover Miniseries

The Ultraman the universe seems to be expanding. Soon, Ultraman and Ultraseven will be joined by Spider Man, Iron Manand Captain Marvel in a history comic book crossover miniseries.

This as-yet-unnamed comic will be the fourth title to come out of the collaboration between Marvel Comics and Tsuburaya Productions, owner of the Ultraman franchise. Previously released comics were The Rise of Ultraman (2020) and Ultraman Trials (2021), with The Ultraseven Mystery released in August. All three series were written by Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom.

This crossover announcement was made by Matt Groom at Anime Expo 2022 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (this is also the first time Ultraman has made an in-person appearance in the United States).

The crossover series will be set in the current Marvel Ultraman comic book universe and will see the Ultras and Marvel superheroes battling the kaiju as well as the Marvel Universe supervillains. No kaiju or supervillains have yet been named, but concept art suggests a classic Bemular kaiju might be in attendance.

Ultraman was created by Eiji Tsuburaya in 1966 and is arguably Japan’s most famous superhero and a pop culture icon. It has spawned thousands of TV episodes and dozens of movies. And the franchise seems to be growing even bigger, with plans for a Shin Japan Heroes universe (similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and now this crossover comic.

If you’re a fan of all things Ultraman then you should check it out Ultraman Season 1 and 2 on Netflix, watch previous episodes on the official Ultraman YouTube channel or join the Ultraman Connection community. Waiting for live action ShinUltraman to make its way to your local cinema or favorite streaming site.

The Ultraman and Marvel comic book crossover series is set to be released in 2023.
