METHUEN – Mayor Neil Perry and Police Chief Scott McNamara have announced that the Methuen Police Department is sending officer cadets to Haverhill Police Academy at Northern Essex Community College (NECC) for careers in the city police department.

“I am delighted that these eight great young men and women are up to the challenge of a career in law enforcement,” said McNamara. “The lessons they learn over the next 38 weeks will prepare them for a career of helping others and protecting this community. I wish them all the best for their entry into the academy.

The eight cadets who were hired from the Public Service Police Officer roster and started attending the Academy on January 10 are: Madison Adames, Robert Fitzgerald, Angel Mejia Jr., Dannery Serrano, Jason Young , Cameron Fountain, Kayleigh Forgetta and James Forgeron.

After 24 weeks of training at the Academy – authorized by the Massachusetts Police Training Council – officers will graduate, become police officers and begin a 14-week Methuen Police Department Field Officer Training Program. to train with an experienced officer.

“I congratulate these eight cadets for pursuing a career in public service here in the town of Methuen,” said Perry. “Public safety is a top priority here, and maintaining an adequate workforce in our police service is an essential ingredient of safety. “

Networking lunch planned
