Moon Knight streaming numbers revealed, see where it compares to other Marvel shows

moon knightThe streaming numbers of have been revealed. Here’s where it compares to other Marvel shows that have been released on Disney+. Nielsen has revealed its streaming rankings for the final week of moon knight‘s release (h/t at THR). The period from May 2 to May 8 saw people watch 715 million minutes to watch the final on DIsney+. This is an impressive increase since only 618 million minutes were watched the previous week. But, what’s even more interesting is that Oscar Isaac’s MCU series ended up increasing viewership in four out of five weeks by debuting on the platform. Thus, with 3.7 billion minutes viewed during the broadcast, moon knight nestles under The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and above Hawk Eye.

Now, that raises a few questions. Considering the fact that moon knight was largely an introduction to the character for many viewers, what do those numbers mean? From most perspectives, this would be considered a big win for Marvel as they continue to grow their Disney+ corner of the MCU. People love Isaac’s hero and want to see him in a possible season 2. (At the moment nothing will catch up Loki to 5.2 billion and Wanda Vision to 4.8 billion. But it’s understandable in this case. They are well-established characters in the MCU.)

A recent interview with saw series director Mohamed Diab explain how Episode 5 ended up being a resounding favorite for the cast and crew. “Episode 5 [“Asylum”] is my favorite episode, and it’s Oscar Isaac’s favorite episode. This is the episode in which you dig deeper into who he is and how he became [Dissociative Identity Disorder]”, revealed Mohamed Diab. “His biggest fear, his biggest problem in his life, he protected himself from the memory that he was responsible for what happened to his brother… to see in a TV show from Marvel Studios.”

“The series follows mild-mannered gift shop worker Steven Grant, who is plagued by power outages and memories from another life,” Disney+ Moon Knight describes on the service. “Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge on them, they must navigate their complex identities while immersed in a deadly mystery among the mighty gods of Egypt.”
