San Diego Comic-Con is finally back in person, and Nickelodeon is ready to have an immersive presence.
San Diego Comic-Con is one of the most famous and popular entertainment events in the country. Established in 1970, the event has grown from an annual comic book convention to an entertainment extravaganza that hosts all types of media, from the latest blockbuster movies to TV series and of course comic books.
A great company to showcase at Comic-Con is Nickelodeon who will be showcasing, like ScreenRant explains, “an immersive booth experience and 4 panels on popular series.”
Nickelodeon has been one of the biggest names in children’s entertainment since 1979, providing a platform for shows like Sponge Bob SquarePants, Rugratsand my godparents are magic.
This will be an especially special year as 3 years have passed since the last in-person Comic-Con, with the 2020 event being canceled due to COVID-19 and the 2021 event being an “at-home” convention.
Of course, Nickelodeon is not the only company that will be present. There’s Disney with its properties, which include Twentieth Century Fox, Star Wars, and Marvel, which will provide a plethora of choices for viewers to watch and consume. Someone is looking for an action series, such as The recruit and its future consequences The rookie: Feds or they are more interested in comedy, like the popular Abbott Elementary Schoolthere will definitely be a show or movie that will capture the attention of the audience.
There will also be Marvel’s return to Comic-Con for the first time in years, unlike its presentations at D23, which is Disney’s official convention. There were events announced by Prime Video, with panels on the big-budget fantasy spin-off, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power and wheel of time. However, the one with the most nostalgia seems to be Nickelodeon.
Nickelodeon’s presence will include four major panels. Spongebob Squarepants: Immerse yourself in the Spongebob universe!will spotlight the beloved animated series that follows the underwater adventures of Spongebob and his friends. Avatar: The Last Airbender fans will love to see Avatar: Brave the Elements – Live!which, as ScreenRant reports, detail “the creation of their flagship series”. Brave the elements is “the official companion podcast co-produced by Nickelodeon and iHeartRadio, returning for a second season.
The remaining panels include those for the next generation of series for popular franchises, including Rugrats with Nickelodeon’s Rugrats: The Babies Are Back! and the world of Transformers with Introducing Transformers: EarthSpark!
Nickelodeon will offer an “immersive booth experience,” which includes interactive designs from various Nickelodeon shows, such as more content with Spongebob, Avatarand Transformersas well as drawings for monster raised.
There will be an interactive game on the theme of Monster High: The Moviewhere fans can “race against the clock to match items with lockers designed with each character in mind.”
There will be a 16ft tall Bumblebee Transformer to promote the world of Transformerswhere fans can “scan different objects in space with a QR code to animate elements with sounds and lights”.
If anyone ever wanted to take a picture with one of the babies talking about Rugratsthere are photo opportunities for that, as well as autograph booths for Transformers: EarthSpark, Rugratsand Spongebob for those who want to meet the producers and voice talent that bring these shows to life. Additionally, there will be costumed character appearances featuring SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star.
Nickelodeon is definitely leaning into nostalgia with its panels this year and looking to the future as beloved classics from decades past, such as Rugrats and Avatarseek to continue to bring something new to the convention.
To see the event return with screenings, Q&A sessions, incredible costumes, intricate cosplays, and all the fun of being with so many others who share the same passion for whatever fandom one is involved with, Nickelodeon is sure to make its presence felt at San Diego Comic Con 2022.
From kids’ animation and animated comedies to sci-fi, action and comic book series, there’s sure to be something for every Comic-Con fan.
The event runs from Wednesday, July 20 through Sunday, July 24 in San Diego.
