Great news today for anyone desperate for their historical fiction to get a little more historical: Foreigner apparently gets a prequel series.
It is by Varietywhich reports that Starz has begun development on a precursor show for its mix of story, time travel, and romance hits (in which time travel continues to play a role depressing small part – when is jamie going to get a laser sword?) Details on the prequel show are being kept under wraps, but series showrunner Matthew B. Roberts is reportedly set to write and executive produce the new episode, with executive producer credit for the show’s creator. , Ronald D. Moore.
Given that Foreigner already takes place in the 18th century, it is not yet clear how far back this prequel could go. Author Diana Gabaldon, whose books the series is based on, wrote a short story that follows the life of his hero Jamie Fraser before Time Women began crashing into his life, and would be working on his own prequel story about the characters’ parents, but he There’s no clear indication which of these eras this new show might focus on, if any.
(Our personal appeal would be to focus on Caitríona Balfe’s Claire debut, if only because it would be a lot of fun for us to spend five seasons You better call Saul–ing normal, non-magical days of a woman we all know will eventually engage in romantic relationships mystical time travel.)
Foreigner is currently gearing up for its sixth season on Starz, which premieres March 6. each season of the show roughly corresponds to one of nine novels (to date) in Gabaldon’s long-running book series.
