WESTFIELD – The January Vents are already underway at Patterson Library!

Maker Space Mondays continue, with teens and children invited to come in after school and learn how to use our Silhouette Cameo 4 letter opener. A special Maker Space Monday will be taking place on January 24 where children can come and assemble a simple but effective do-it-yourself air filter.

Assemble box forts and other creations today from 4 pm to 5:30 pm The library has purchased special tools especially for working with cardboard. Teens are encouraged to build forts and other hiding places to play hide and seek in the dark during Teen Night the following week.

January 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. is the first Teen Night of the year featuring Hide and Seek in the Dark.

Those who need help with their Spanish homework or are interested in learning the language and want to spend time with those with similar interests and goals can attend the Spanish Club every Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in the library.

In addition, a special story hour in Patterson Park for ages 2 to 5 will take place on January 21 at 10:45 a.m. during which the stories will be told in both languages.

Brand new at Patterson Library is the Anime Club every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m.

The library will host an anime screening in the children’s area of ​​the library. In addition, sketchbooks and a “animated bingo” will be provided for additional entertainment.

Teen Dungeons and Dragons are always accepting new players, so sign up on the library website to take part in the fantasy adventure! Participants meet every second Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m., and it is open to ages 13 to 18. All levels of experience are welcome.

Come experience Super Smash Bros Ultimate on Nintendo Switch on January 18 at 4 p.m. ET. The winner of the tournament will receive a prize. This event is aimed at children and adolescents under the age of 18, and don’t worry, the younger ones will also have the opportunity to win prizes.

The Tween Book Club for 8-12 year olds and an accompanying adult takes place on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Come for fun discussions, activities and snacks! The book chosen for January will be “Flora and Ulysses” by Kate DiCamillo. Please join the club at or at the library. Books are available at the children’s desk.

Story time for children (0-2 years) will take place on January 14 and 28 at 10 a.m. Patterson Park Story Time (ages 2 to 5) will be on January 14, 21 and 28 at 10:45 am. On the 14th, the theme of the books will be “space,” on January 21, the books will be bilingual with Spanish and English, and on January 28, the books will be themed “colors.”
