Production on Strange New Worlds Season 2 wraps up

While its first-season finale is yet to air on Thursday, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has already wrapped filming its second season. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds began production on its second season in February, with filming underway when news broke that Paul Wesley had cast James T. Kirk, famous for the lead role in the original star trek series, in the upcoming season. Filming is now complete for the second outing in the series. Several creatives working on the show broke the news via Twitter. Director and producer Chris Fisher was the first to take to Twitter with a message of thanks to fans:

“#StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds Season 2 is over!” he tweeted (via hiking movie) “Thank you to the best cast, crew, writers, directors, the City of Toronto and Canada for all your love and support! And most importantly, thank you to the amazing fans and everyone who shares our collective goal #toboldlygo.”

Writer and producer Bill Wolkoff celebrated from the engine room aboard the Enterprise. This would be the set with the VR wall in the background, used throughout the show.

“Production on s2 is complete!” he tweeted. “The artists @Pixomondo made virtual fireworks for our last day at the AR wall. Probably clever, less chance of burning sets. #StrangeNewWorlds”

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Star Christina Chong, who plays security guard Li’an Noonien-Singh, spoke to earlier this season. She teased an even bigger and better second season. “We’re almost done with season two. We’ve got a few more episodes to go, and what I’ll say is if you liked season one, the writers got the license to go even bigger and even more epic “, says Chong. “So that takes it to a whole new level of exciting fun, and I’ve had a lot of fun this season.”

“Four years ago, we promised to make Star Trek something it had never been before, and thanks to the incredibly hard work of our many talented showrunners, writers and directors, and the extraordinary support of CBS Studios and Paramount+, we keep our word,” Star Trek franchise architect and executive producer Alex Kurtzman said in a press release announcing Strange new worlds‘ renewal. “Now our current shows are set for the future as we work to build the next phase of Trek programming for years to come.”

Star Trek: Strange New WorldsThe season one finale premieres this Thursday on Paramount+. The rest of the season is now streaming on Paramount+.
