Hannah Berry: I just saw the tragic news about Steven Walsh, an absolute mainstay in the comics community. He was one of the most positive people I’ve met, he was ridiculously fun to talk to, and in a room full of people it was impossible not to gravitate towards him. Rest in peace, wonderful man xxx. Here is her cheeky cameo in Livestock. I hope he knew how much I liked him and enjoyed his company. I would have liked to tell him more.
Kieron Gillen: Just learned of the passing of Steven Walsh (@ventswhales). Incredibly sad. He was a gentle titan of London comics. The tributes paid to him by Broken Frontier when he entered their Hall of Fame speaks volumes:
Ramzee Hassan: RIP Steven Walsh! What a fun, interesting, kind man he was. When I started getting involved in the creative London comics community in 2013, he was my first friend. Everyone in the scene knew and loved him and what he gave her was immense. I will never forget him
Alison Sampson: RIP @ventswhales Steven Walsh. He was a really nice guy, the first person to sell me comics at a comic book store, my LCS @GoshComics, and that doesn’t even begin to say how important he was to me, to the community of comics. I am really sorry. Sending condolences to his friends and family.
Nathanael Metcalfe: I worked with @ventswhales for 5 years at @GoshComics Steve was a real piper. People were flocking around his orbit and he had time for everyone except the Tories and whoever West Ham were playing that week. His relentless positivity and lack of cynicism were contagious. RIP buddy. Even today he made me smile remembering some of the absolutely inedible lunches he used to cook for himself. He was bragging about how little it had cost him, as if he had won the game by eating an awful meal.
Sean Azzopardi: Really sad news that Steve Walsh @ventswhales has passed away. He talked about his illness, it was so expected, but still terribly sad. We will miss you Steve.
