Hachette UK will sponsor two scholarships worth over £600 for unpublished writers from underrepresented or low-income backgrounds.
The First Author Package comes from Byte The Book, a network of authors and publishing professionals, and includes a one-on-one mentoring session with the Byte The Book team, including review and feedback on an agent submission, a workshop voucher to be used at any Byte The Book event, and a ticket to one of its agents table events.

Applications for both sponsored spots are now open until June 30, 2022. Applicants should email [email protected] with the subject “Hachette UK-sponsored Bursaries for Debut Authors”.
Short stories and other online publications are permitted, but the author must not have published a book-length project. The application must include the first chapter of a complete novel or non-fiction project (up to 5,000 words), a synopsis of the complete project (up to 600 words) and a biography (up to 250 words) .
Byte The Book will select two recipients for the scholarships based on the strength of their writing and project.
