Published by the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation, the book “Stories” by Ömer Seyfettin, one of the eminent representatives of Turkish literature, was presented in German in Vienna as part of the “Literary Bridge Connecting” project. the Turkic world”.

Held at the Yunus Emre Institute in Vienna, the event was jointly organized by the Foundation, the Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Austria.

The presentation was attended by President of the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Austria Rovshan Sadigbayli, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Austria Ozan Jeyhun, Director from the Yunus Emre Institute in Vienna Ayşe Yorulmaz, writer-researcher Orkhan Araz, Hulya Argunshah, professor at Erciyes University and others.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Austria Ozan Ceyhun said that Ömer Seyfettin, who has made a considerable contribution to the development of Turkish literature, is one of the important representatives of the genre. news and played a special role in the formation of the national language and literature that developed from this language in Türkiye during the transition from empire to republic.

In her speech, the President of the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation, Gunay Afandiyeva, said that they met Austrian readers with literary pearls that unite the Turkish world. The President of the Foundation noted that Ömer Seyfettin, who left a strong mark in literature with his short stories, tried to master the Turkish language through his works and his literary activity in general, and was one of the founders and pioneers of the Turkish movement. Gunay Afandiyeva pointed out that the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation has implemented projects to promote the literary heritage of personalities from the Turkish world in the international arena and said that it is transmitted from generation to generation.

At the event, Orkhan Araz, researcher and writer who has lived in Germany for many years, Herman Kohl, translator, and Professor Hulya Argunshah, lecturer at Erciyes University in Türkiye known for his scientific articles on Ömer Seyfettin , underlined the great contribution to Turkish literature made by the eminent author, although he lived only 36 years, and highly appreciated the efforts of the International Foundation of Turkish Culture and Heritage to promote again Turkish literature in Europe.

The presentation included a documentary film dedicated to the life and work of Ömer Seyfettin, shot by TRT under the auspices of the Foundation. The program ended with the beautiful depiction of selected beads of Turkish culture by Azerbaijani people’s artist Mehriban Zaki.
